RAPID INJECTION MOLDING.

QUALITY PARTS IN PRODUCTION MATERIALS

Our unique Rapid Injection Molding (RIM) process utilizes cutting edge DLP printing technology in conjunction with traditional machining methods and materials. This results in quick-turn hybrid tooling and prototype parts that can be made in a variety of engineering grade resins.

Tool Design

RIM allows us to iterate, de-bug and verify design updates without compromising speed, accuracy or material choice. It’s perfect for proving out concepts and driving confidence in the functionality of a product before committing to production tooling.

Standard Injection Materials

Primary Materials:

  • Polypropylene

  • TPU

  • TPE

  • POM (Acetal)

  • ABS

  • Nylon 6

Other Materials:

  • Polycarbonate

  • PBT

  • Ultem

  • Others upon request

Benefits of RIM

  • High Accuracy: holds tolerances to +/-0.005”

  • Surface Finish: smooth finish is achievable of critical areas

  • Durability: tools can typically support 25-100 shots or more dependent upon geometry

  • Flexible Design Options: complex geometries are supported, and designs don’t need to be restricted to straight-pull molds

  • Competitive Costs: a highly economical option for prototyping, bridge production, or low-volume parts

  • Expert Support: Empire Group includes Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis with every rapid injection molding project
