Looking for Ghoulish Graphics? We've got you covered.
It's that time of year again. The air is crisp and the nights seem darker. We are all on the hunt for the perfect pumpkin, the tastiest treats and the creepiest costumes. We dress up our kids, our pets and our homes. Some of us even dress up our cars.
David DeMarco of DeMarco Racing approached the Empire graphics team to create some “sick and menacing” artwork for his Outlaw 10.5 class drag car, a 1987 Buick Grand National. The all black paint job was begging for the Grim Reaper, whom better to chase down those elusive drag times?
During our conversation with David, we executed some quick thumbnail sketches to get a buy in. After learning of his love of pit bulls, we decided to replace the Reaper’s typical scythe with a trio of gnashing, ghoulish canines. Once the macabre theme was set, we got to work mapping out the car by taking detailed measurements. These would serve as the dielines used to create the wrap that would cover the hood and side panels.
We started all of the artwork in Adobe Illustrator and then progressed to Photoshop to add the finer, horrifying details. It’s a pleasure and a privilege to work on these types of projects and a bonus to momentarily take a ride on the dark side.
